Sharpe’s winning hit lifts DPLL’s Cubs

The Dos Pueblos Little League Cubs won

D.J. Sharpe singled in the winning run to cap a four-run, two-out rally in the fifth inning, leading the Dos Pueblos Little League Juniors Division Cubs over the DPLL Yankees 5-4. The win captured the first-ever Greater Santa Barbara Youth Baseball Upper Division 2012 Tournament Championship on Monday at Goleta Valley South Little League. SB Riptide open up season with tourney championship

The Santa Barbara Riptide 11u baseball team participated in its first tournament last weekend in Oxnard. The Riptide is comprised of 11 year olds ranging from Santa Barbara to Santa Maria.The Riptide took the field in their first ever contest against the Westlake Stars. Last weekend the 14u Santa Barbara Riptide Baseball team cruised to its 5th tournament championship in its last seven tournaments.The Riptide won the championship in comeback fashion by beating a very tough Mac Baseball team 9-6.With the Riptide trailing 5-2 heading into the bottom of the 5th, Luke Coffey lead off the inning with a double to deep centerfield. Goleta Valley South Little League’s 10-Under All-Stars broke open a tie game with a big fourth inning and romped to an 11-1 win over Montalvo to win the District 63 Tournament championship on Tuesday night.Luke Roberts doubled in the go-ahead run and Chris Abbott singled in a run as GVS pulled away.
