Westmont inaugurated the 2012 baseball season with the most unsatisfying of results — a tie. Playing against Pomoma-Pitzer, the Warriors took a 7-6 lead into the bottom of the seventh, but the Sagehens' Nick Gentili scored on a wild pitch with two away to even the score at 7-7.After Westmont's Michael Kwan struck out Mark Okuma to end the ninth, the game was called on account of darkness by the umpires. The Santa Barbara Riptide 11u baseball team participated in its first tournament last weekend in Oxnard. The Riptide is comprised of 11 year olds ranging from Santa Barbara to Santa Maria.The Riptide took the field in their first ever contest against the Westlake Stars.
