San Marcos finished the Irvine Southern California Championships on a positive note, winning its last two matches to finish 21st in the 32-team girls water polo tournament.“The kids really came together after the loss last night (against Anaheim-Canyon 7-6),” San Marcos coach Chuckie Roth said. “That was a wake-up call. The San Marcos girls water polo team split a pair of games at the Irvine Southern California Championships on Friday.The Royals were on fire at the start, rolling to an 18-9 win over Laguna Hills. Hope Grant buried seven goals and Tatiana Verdugo and Maddie Brooks added four apiece to power Carpinteria’s girls water polo team to a 17-2 rout over Nordhoff on Friday.The win puts the Warriors closer to a share of the Tri-Valley League title with Malibu.
