Three Westmont College men’s tennis players have earned NAIA All-American honors and a fourth was named Golden State Athletic Conference Scholar-Athlete.Junior Carlos Lima, of Porto Alegre, Brazil, was named a first team All-American in addition to being honored as a All-Golden State Athletic Conference selection. Santa Barbara's Spencer Simon has been tearing up the Caribbean hard courts of late, winning two doubles and a singles title recently in the Bahamas and Aruba in ITF Grade 4 events.Simon swept the singles and doubles draws in Noord, Aruba this past weekend at TIHTA 2010. Simon, 17, defeated doubles partner and No. 1 seeded Shaun Bernstein in the semifinals before winning the title match 6-1, 4-6, 6-4 over Robert Livi. The Santa Barbara Tennis Patrons are set to host its 74th annual adult open tournament this Fourth of July weekend. Stratman holds down local designated tourney
Lauren Stratman claimed the Girls 18 title at the 95th Santa Barbara Summer Junior Tennis Tournament this weekend, defeating Dorothy Tang 6-3, 6-2 in the final.Stratman, from Goleta, made the championship match by defeating doubles partner and No. 1 seed April Scatliffe in the semifinals. Stratman won in three sets for the second time of the tournament, topping Scatliffe 6-4, 0-6, 6-2.
