Peterson storms into semis in New Zealand

It is Peterson's rookie season on the elite ASP Women's World Championship Tour and after three events she has a very healthy ranking of 6th in the world. Becker tears it up at Santa Cruz SUP “Shootout”

Matt Becker has got an all-around game in stand up paddle surfing.The Santa Barbara Mesa resident returned to Santa Cruz two weekends ago for the Surftech Shootout and Surf and Sand Duel-athlon and captured the surfing competition at the famed Steamer Lane. Local surf filmmakers awarded at Lobero

Not only was the event by Sundance Beach free to attend, but event sponsors took over the Lobero lawn and red carpet area to give-away lots of free gear.

This weekend, Santa Barbara’s Lobero Theater hosted the 5th Annual Sundance Beach Surf Video Contest for a crowd of enthusiastic attendees. The contest showcases 10 short surf films produced by amateur surf filmmakers for a chance to be recognized in the surf film community.This year a total of 30 films were submitted but only 10 finalists made it to the screening. Becker earns 2 medals at ISA World SUP Championships

Santa Barbara’s Matt Becker overcame a bad first turn and finished in fourth place in the Stand Up Paddle technical race final on Friday at the inaugural International Surfing Association World SUP and Paddleboard Championships in Miraflores, Peru.The 17-year-old Becker covered the 4.5-kilometer course in 17 minutes, 44 seconds to claim a spot on the podium and earn a copper medal.He later won a silver medal as a member of the U.S. relay team that finished second behind … [Read more...]
