Surfer Magazine’s top documentary of 2011 playing at SBIFF

'Splinters' is playing at the Arlington on Tuesday night.

Surfer Magazine nominated four films in 2011 as the top surf documentaries of the year. Three of them are being screened at this year's Santa Barbara International Film Festival, including the winner - Splinters - that was produced by one of Santa Barbara’s own, Adam Pesce.Splinters, along with other top surfing documentaries Lost & Found and Mind in the Water, is playing this week at local theatres. No go for Rincon Classic this weekend

The 2012 Rincon Classic will not happen this weekend, and will instead hope for better conditions next weekend.The Classic has a waiting period of seven weekends and has opted out of the first two weekends so far."Swell looks like it's going to drop off rather quickly before reaching the weekend, under head high. Rincon Classic postponed a week

The 2012 Rincon Classic has been called off this weekend and will wait another week for better conditions.The advisory board for the "locals only" surf contest voted unanimously to postpone the event for the first waiting weekend due to poor wind and rain predictions for both days.A message posted on the contest website stated: "This being the first waiting weekend in the period it was an easy decision to hold off on the event. BURLEIGH HEADS, Queensland/Australia – The opening day of the Billabong World Junior Championships Gold Coast was treated to 2 - 3 foot (1.5 meter) surf rolling through the Burleigh Heads rock break.
