SBCC dropped a wild 11-10 game to Glendale in its softball season opener on Saturday at the Mt. SAC Tournament. In a night game, the Vaqueros led Mt. San Antonio 2-0 before the Mounties rallied for a 10-2 victory.Santa Barbara outhit Glendale 9-5 in the opener but commited five errors and left 10 runners on base. Top JC-transfer chooses UCSB softball

Jessica Soria, a transfer from Arizona Western College, will join the UCSB softball team for the 2012 season it was announced by head coach Brie Galicinao. The outfielder is a two-time National Junior College Athletic Association Division I First Team All-American.Soria, who hails from Simi Valley, led Arizona Western College in batting the past two seasons. SBCC left-hander Chris Joyce has been named All-American and Southern Cal Pitcher of the Year. SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – Four UC Santa Barbara softball players garnered All-Big West Conference honors it was announced on Tuesday afternoon by the league. Sophomore shortstop Keilani Jennings earned All-Big West First Team honors while junior pitcher Krista Cobb and junior outfielder Allison Taylor garnered Second Team distinction. SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – Friday the 13th proved to be lucky for the UCSB softball team as the Gauchos captured a pair of extra-inning wins over visiting UC Davis (22-27, 7-13) to snap its six-game losing skid and bring its record back to an even .500 at 26-26 overall and 10-10 in Big West play. Santa Barbara City College struck first for the second straight day on Sunday but Santa Ana had too much firepower and came back to beat the visiting Vaqueros 7-2 in the Southern Cal Regional softball playoffs.Santa Ana, the No. 7 seed, won the best-of-3 series 2-0 and moves into the Super Regional next weekend.
