Carpinteria moved up two spots to No. 5 in the CIF Northwest Division football poll after its impressive 22-8 season-opening win at Morro Bay last Friday.Area teams dominate the division, with five teams among the top six. Lompoc, the defending division champ, tops the poll after wins over Arroyo Grande and Pioneer Valley (in overtime). Returning most of its runners from last year’s 10th-place finish at the State Meet, the Dos Pueblos boys received a top-10 ranking in the first CIF-SS cross country poll of the season.CROSS COUNTRY RANKINGSThe Chargers are ranked ninth in Division 2. They finished seventh in the Southern Section finals last year and qualified for the state championships. Santa Barbara High has three teams ranked in this week's CIF Polls. The Dons' boys tennis team, baseball team and boys volleyball teams have been ranked for most of the season.The Dons' boys tennis team is currently the highest ranked at No. 5 in Division I.
