The SBCC women’s basketball team closed out 2011 with a sub-par performance on Thursday afternoon in the consolation semifinals of the 24th annual Grossmont Holiday Tournament.Mt. San Jacinto, ranked No. 8 in the state, opened the second half on a 20-5 run and went on to beat the Vaqueros 70-42. Butte slips past Vaqueros 60-54

SBCC used a full-court press to rally within a point of Butte on Wednesday in the opening round of the Hancock Holiday Classic before going cold in the final seven minutes of a 60-54 men’s basketball defeat.The Vaqueros, playing their first game in 18 days, trailed 51-50 with 7:11 to play and then went more than six minutes without a point.
