Ryan Thompson is coming home.The former multi-sport star at Dos Pueblos High, has been named head baseball coach at Santa Barbara City College. Thompson takes over for Teddy Warrecker, who left last month after 10 seasons to become an assistant coach at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.Thompson, 33, was a four-time All-County choice in football (1993-94) and baseball (1994-95) at Dos Pueblos, where he also played basketball. Edgington leads pack of All-WSC Vaqueros

SBCC left-hander Zach Edgington was named co-Pitcher of the Year in the WSC North on Sunday and 12 other Vaqueros made the North Division team.Edgington, a sophomore from San Mateo who's signed to play for UCSB, went 4-1 in conference play with a 2.17 ERA and 61 strikeouts in 45.2 innings. SBCC stormed back from an 11-4 deficit with four runs in the eighth and three more in the ninth on Friday but a trio of defensive miscues spoiled the party in the regular-season baseball finale at Pershing Park. Ignacio Elias had a big day in his first start in right field on Saturday but SBCC couldn't hold a one-run lead in the ninth and Hancock rallied for a 7-6 WSC North baseball victory in Santa Maria.Elias went 3-4 and belted his first home run of the year, a two-run shot in the fourth, to put the visitors ahead 3-2. What a difference two days can make.Just 48 hours after managing four hits in a 3-2 loss at Moorpark, the SBCC baseball team erupted for 19 runs on 19 hits in a 19-4 win over the same Raider squad on Saturday at Pershing Park.
