MLB Draft picks off record nine Gauchos

UCSB's top pick last year, starting pitcher Joe Gardner, went in the third round to the Cleveland Indians.

Three more UCSB baseball players were chosen on the third day of Major League Baseball's First Year player draft, bringing the total number of Gauchos picked to nine, which sets a record for most draft picks taken from UCSB in a single draft. UCSB junior pitcher Joe Gardner, who was an All-Big West First Team selection, was picked in the third round by the Cleveland Indians on Tuesday during the first day of Major League Baseball's amateur draft.Gardner, who went 7-1 with a 3.40 ERA for the Gauchos, was picked 94th overall.
