One day after putting together a dominant offensive performance against visiting UC Davis, the favor was returned by the Aggies, who tallied 16 hits on their way to a 10-6 victory over UC Santa Barbara on Saturday afternoon at Caesar Uyesaka Stadium.With the loss, UCSB falls to 22-19 overall and 8-6 in league games. The Gauchos kicked off the Big West Conference Tournament on a beautiful afternoon in Davis, California. UCSB clinched a win against Pacific this evening at UC Davis Schaal Aquatics Center, 9-5.The Gauchos took control in the first quarter, when they scored three unanswered goals by Pacific. UC Santa Barbara freshman pitcher Andrew Vasquez has been sparkling in his first season as a Gaucho and now he finds himself in elite company.The 6-foot-6 left-hander was named to the National Pitcher of the Year Watch List by the College Baseball Hall of Fame. Russell Boring shot a 4-over par 217 to finish tied for 10th as the UC Santa Barbara golf team finished sixth at the Anteater Invitational in Irvine, Calif., on Tuesday.Boring actually led the tournament after one round, carding a 3-under par 68. UCSB junior centerfielder Brett Vertigan has been named the Big West Player of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday.Vertigan went 9-for-16 with eight runs scored as UCSB went 4-0 against USC and Pacific this past week.
