The Santa Barbara Volleyball Club 13-Smack and 14-Smack teams both took second at the Volleyball Festival in Phoenix last week.The 18-Smack and 16-Smack teams both qualified for the Open division of the Junior Nationals, which is the highest division possible and they competed among the top 32 teams across the nation. Injury-riddled SBVC 16-Smack presses forward

Finishing in 5th place of the Silver Division, the Santa Barbara Volleyball Club's 13-Smack team ended their regular season on a high note at the Regionals tournament in Artesia last weekend.On day one, the team had a slow start in the first match of the morning pool play. Currently ranked seventh in the Southern California Volleyball Association, the 18-Smack competed in the Gold bracket among the top 32 teams in SoCal. The team went 5-1 in pool play Saturday and Sunday and later went on to win the tournament. Over the season, in its region, the 16-Smack competed and won enough events to earn points to join the top 28 teams across the nation in the 16’s age division of the USAV Junior Nationals (formerly Junior Olympics).After a spectacular showing this past weekend in its final regional tournament, the team earned an “At-Large” Bid for the Open division of Junior Nationals. The Santa Barbara Club Volleyball Teams played in their third regular season region tournaments of the SCVA on Saturday in Anaheim.14-SmackDue to two teams forfeiting for the day, the teams were reseeded and the 14-Smack team ended up in a 3 team pool and to play matches best of 5 sets. On Saturday in Anaheim, the Santa Barbara Volleyball Club 12-Smack team won all of its matches in pool play to place first for the day and move up to Division V.
