Club West Youth Track member Nicholas Scarvelis placed 3rd in the Shot Put competition at the World Youth Trials in Ypsilanti, Michigan this past Tuesday. His top throw was 59' 7". The Youth Trials is a qualifier to select the nation's top 16 and 17 year old track and field athletes to compete against the world in Bressanone, Italy later this summer. Eight members of the Club West Youth Track team traveled to Cerritos this past weekend for the 2009 USATF Southern California Association Junior Olympics Track and Field Championships. A total of 20 events were entered and after three days of competition one new meet record and nine personal records were established.
