Canyons locks up WSC title at Marshallia Ranch

SBCC had an off-day in the WSC Finals on Monday and took sixth in the 36-hole tourney at Marshallia Ranch on Vandenberg AFB.Trevor Gorski led the Vaqueros, shooting 79 and 75 for a 10-over-par 154. Gorski and David Aarons (80-79--159) qualified for the Southern Cal Regional as individuals. Nearly all of SBCC’s starting lineup was honored on Monday when 11 Vaqueros were chosen for the All-WSC North baseball team.Freshman shortstop Steven Reveles and sophomore first baseman Joey Epperson led six players on the first team. Reveles was No. 6 in batting average in conference at .357 and also drove in 14 runs. Vaqueros travel for playoff series

SBCC was seeded 16th for the Southern Cal Softball Regional and will travel to top-seeded College of the Canyons next weekend.The Vaqueros, 23-15 and runners-up in the WSC Gold Division, made the Regional for the second straight year. Lake earns WSC title in 400 hurdles

It was a banner day for the SBCC track team as personal bests abounded on Friday in the WSC Track & Field Championships at Moorpark College.Freshman Tristan Lake captured the 400 hurdles title in 53.69 seconds, the No. 2 mark in school history. He missed the school record by three-tenths of a second. SBCC’s Sophie Angner won a pair of matches in singles and doubles on Friday to move into the quarterfinals of both Community College Women’s Divisions at the 112th Ojai Tournament. The freshman from Sweden cruised past Brianna Wood of Victor Valley 6-2, 6-0 and Camille Requiestas of Riverside 6-0, 6-2. SBCC shortstop Steven Reveles was selected as the Southern Cal Player of the Week by the California Community College Baseball Coaches Association. He’s the first Vaquero to receive the honor this season.The freshman shortstop from Dos Pueblos High went 7-15 in three games (.467) with six RBIs. Samantha Cabada homered in each game and Bryn Thompson went 5-for-7 to guide SBCC to a doubleheader softball sweep over L.A. Pierce on Tuesday in Woodland Hills.
