SBCC's Zoe Davis took eighth in the women's shot put at the 59th California State Championships on Saturday with a throw of 39-4 1/2 inches at Cerritos College in Norwalk. It was the third-best mark in school history for the freshman, who holds the school record at 39-9 3/4.In the men's 1500, Matt Bailey was ninth in a time of 3:57.68. SBCC’s Instebo, Davis qualify for State Championships

Cecilia Instebo and Zoe Davis of SBCC both placed seventh on Saturday in the Southern Cal Track & Field Finals at San Diego Mesa to earn spots in the State Championships.Instebo lowered her PR in the 3000 Steeplechase by 14 seconds with an 11:34 clocking. SBCC’s Sophie Angner won two matches on Friday to move into the semifinals of the State Individual Championships at Balboa Tennis Club in San Diego.The freshman from Sweden was seeded No. 3 in the South. SBCC takes third in WSC Supremacy

SBCC placed third in the Western State Conference Supremacy race for the 2011-12 athletic season.The Vaqueros won WSC titles in men’s soccer, women’s soccer and baseball. It’s the third straight year that Santa Barbara has been in the top three out of 15 schools. SBCC couldn’t do much in Game 2 of the Southern Cal Baseball Regional on Saturday and Rio Hondo did everything in a 12-1 victory at Whittier.The Vaqueros lost the best-of-3 series two games to none.
