Rogers-Dalhausser start FIVB season with a title in Brazil

Todd Rogers let the beach volleyball world know that he is back at full strength.Nine months after a knee injury ended his 2011 season, Rogers and 6-foot-9 partner Phil Dalhausser won the opening event on the 2012 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour. The Santa Barbara duo defeated fellow Americans Matt Fuerbringer and Nick Lucena to capture the $380,000 Brasilia Open in Brazil on Sunday. A hard-luck pitcher during the season, Jimmy Brakka of San Marcos finally got some run support and notched his first win on Friday. Making the occasion sweeter for the senior lefthander, the result came against crosstown rival Santa Barbara in a key Channel League baseball game at Joe Mueller Field. It has been a month since Santa Barbara High won a Channel League baseball game.The Dons got back on the winning track on Tuesday, taking advantage of 17 walks and five hit batters in a 19-2 rout of San Marcos at Eddie Mathews Field.Scoring a lopsided win against its crosstown rival wasn’t a big deal to Santa Barbara.
