WSoc: All-WSC North Teams full of Vaqueros

SBCC landed eight players on the All-WSC North women’s soccer team.

Maria Solis, Lena Gustafsson and Andrea Skjold made the first team. Solis, a freshman midfielder from Dos Pueblos High, scored three goals with two assists.

Gustafsson, a sophomore defender from Santa Cruz who moved to forward a few games ago, finished with two goals and three assists. Skjold, a freshman from Denmark, played in all 19 games and was a solid defender.

Second-team choices were forward Steph Romero, defender Emily Erwin and goalie Alex Camarillo. Camarillo, a freshman from Dos Pueblos, had a 0.85 goals-against average with 67 saves and eight shutouts in 17 games. Romero and Erwin are also from Dos Pueblos, giving the Chargers four players on the all-conference squad.

Baylee Vincent, who scored three goals and a team-high 10 points, made honorable mention, along with forward Kathryn Sullivan.

The Vaqueros went 9-5-5 overall and took third in conference at 4-2-4.

Santa Barbara is expecting a bid to the Southern Cal Regional and will likely be on the road in the first round on Saturday.
