Santa Barbara High basketball standout Bolden Brace has made a verbal commitment with Northeastern University in Boston.

Northeastern plays in the Colonial Athletic Association. The Huskies went 23-12, won the CAA Tournament and earned a NCAA Tournament bid last season. They took Notre Dame down to the wire in a first-round game, eventually falling 69-65.

Brace, a 6-5 swingman for the Dons, is entering this third year as a varsity player. In his first two seasons, he’s helped the team win back-to-back Channel League championships, reach the CIF semifinals and earn consecutive state tournament berths. He was named the league MVP and earned All-CIF honors as a junior after averaging 20.5 points, 4.2 rebounds, 6.8 rebounds and 2.4 assists.

Coach Bill Coen is getting an athletic player who can do it all on the court.

Brace and the Dons open the 2015-16 basketball season on Nov. 28 at Pioneer Valley.
