Cate won its season-opening match 18-0 over Villanova on Thursday.
Senior singles players Julia Gan and McKenna Madden were virtually untouchable, dropping only a single game each in three sets.
Cate won’t play its next match until September 17 against Rio Mesa.
Returning juniors Summer Christensen/Eva Herman and seniors Emma Liberman/Cecelia Sanborn supplied three-set sweeps for the Rams in doubles. Freshman Sarah Polowczak got off to a great start in her Cate career by winning a set with Maki Kobayashi and another two sets with Madeline Nelson.
