GLF: Minier paces Chargers over Buena

Led by freshman Gabby Minier, Dos Pueblos scored a 191 at Buena Ventura Golf Course on Thursday to defeat Ventura at 257.

Minier’s 36 was one stroke better than teammates Bella Vigna and Megan Caird.

Chargers coach Dan Choi thought his players lost a few strokes by taking a few too many risks.

“Today’s performance was a solid one, but off the mark for the teams goals that we had set. We gave away some strokes today that we know we will need to avoid if we hope to achieve some of our post season team and individual goals,” Choi said.

Santa Barbara is next on the schedule for the Chargers in a match at Montecito Country Club on Monday.

RESULTS:

Dos Pueblos – 191
Gabby Minier-36
Bella Vigna-37
Megan Caird-37
Mika Henrickson-40
Jamie Sharpe-41
Julia Forster-41

Ventura – 257
Neil McWeeney-47
Janae Harer-48
Elle Gaston-50
Olivia 54
Alyvia Salvatierra-58
Delaney-67

Every year the team is really excited to play at Buena Ventura because it is one of those courses where they all feel like they can go low. That’s golf though and the team realizes that even on the best days there are still lessons to be learned. Freshman Gabby Minier was medalist for the second time this year. Bella Vigna’s disappointment about her score was tempered by the fact that she had a much better day on the greens. It’s been something that she has been really working on. Megan Caird also struggled a bit today with her hitting but once again managed her game well to finish with a 37. We look forward to the challenge of playing Santa Barbara at Montecito CC on Monday.
