Carpinteria gives South a battle in 21-7 loss

Carpinteria’s defense intercepted four passes, but it wasn’t enough for the Warriors to break into the win column.

South Torrance used a strong running game to defeat Carpinteria, 21-7, in a non-league game in Torrance on Friday night.

The Spartans (4-0) rushed for 253 yards on 37 carries, led by Cameron Dillon’s 83 yards on 10 rushes. He scored two touchdowns. Quarterback Gabe Zuniga ran fo 80 yards.

Zuniga threw one touchdown pass but was held to 139 yards passing.

Carpinteria (0-4) plays at Dos Pueblos on Friday.
