Williams to play for Hornets in NBA Summer League

Alan Williams will play for the Charlotte Hornets in the NBA’s Summer League session in Orlando.

Williams, a three-time All-Big West Conference First Team selection while at UCSB, averaged 17.3 points and 11.8 rebounds per game as a senior.

Charlotte announced its Summer League roster on Tuesday. Williams will be playing alongside 2015 first-round draft pick and NCAA Player of the Year Frank Kaminsky, 2014 first-round pick PJ Hairston and two-year NBA veteran Troy Daniels.

He worked out for the Hornets in a pre-draft camp with Seth Tuttle (Northern Iowa), Trevor Lacey (NC State), Shannon Scott (Ohio State) and Treveon Graham (Virginia Commonwealth). Williams’ highlight video from the workout can be watched HERE.

Summer League games in Orlando begin on Saturday, July 4 and run through July 10. Charlotte will be one of nine NBA teams with squads competing. Each team will play five games over seven days.

Another UCSB alum, James Nunnally, will be competing in Orlando for the Indiana Pacers. It’s Nunnally’s third NBA Summer League season. The former Gaucho had a brief regular-season stint with the Atlanta Hawks two seasons ago and spent last season in Israel playing for Maccabi Ashdod.
