Four members of the Santa Barbara Singrays youth rugby club have been chosen to a select squad to participate in a USA Rugby Regional Cup all-star tournament in Bakersfield, June 19-21.

Chris Noggle, Tommy McGregor, Jalen Siegel and Ryan Broumand will represent the Stringrays on the JV Regional Tri-Counties team in Bakersfield. The players chosen for this tournament are part of a pool of 56 who are considered among the top high school varsity and junior varsity and club rugby players from San Luis Obispo to San Diego.

Noggle also was named to the Southern California Griffins select side as one of the top 28 players in central and southern California.

Noggle, McGregor and Siegel attend Dos Pueblos High and Broumand goes to San Marcos.

“This is not an easy process to be selected,” said Darin Siegel, director of the Stingrays. “Every one of the players are great, but choices really came down to the ability of a player to play multiple positions and excel at one.”

The Southern California Youth Rugby All-Star Teams will compete in a high-level tournament, where college scouts and staff from USA Rugby will be in attendance.
