Jared Vom Steeg is mobbed by his Goleta Valley South All-Star teammates after belting a grand slam in the first inning of Thursday’s 20-0 win over Montalvo.

Jared Vom Steeg’s first-inning grand slam opened the flood gates as Goleta Valley South Little League cruised to a 20-0 mercy-rule win over Montalvo in the District 63 Little League 12-Under All-Star tournament.

GVSLL launched three more homers in the second inning when Nick Oakley skied a two-run moon shot to center, Jackson Haskell hit a blast to left and Ian Oakley crushed a three-run bomb to left-center. Henry Manfredonia added a bases-clearing double in the frame. Aiden Johnson added four hits, including two doubles.

Starting pitcher Ian Oakley and closer Will Trautwein combined for 8 strikeouts, allowing only 1 hit in the four-inning game.

In 11 innings of tournament play to date, GVSLL’s potent offense has produced home runs from seven different players, and has outscored opponents 47-2.

Goleta Valley South next plays rival Dos Pueblos Little League on Thursday, June 25 at Montalvo Little League.
