Drury-Pullen earns spot in beach volleyball JO’s

Cassidy Drury-Pullen of San Marcos High qualified for the Junior Olympics in beach volleyball by winning an AAU District Qualifier event at Cal State Bakersfield.

Drury Pullen and partner Gina Lipscomb of Yorba Linda overcame the 90-degree heat in Bakersfield on May 25 and captured the gold medal at the qualifier to earn a spot in the Junior Olympics national championships in Hermosa Beach, July 23-26.

The following weekend, Drury-Pullen and Lipscomb combined forces again and won the silver division title at the Get Noticed Beach Volleyball Tournament in Huntington Beach. The event drew college coaches from all over the country to evaluate talent from graduating years 2015 through 2018.

Drury-Pullen and Lipscomb competed in the 2017/2018 category and battled through five rounds of playoffs to take first place.

Drury-Pullen will be a junior at San Marcos in the fall.
