SFT: Uyesaka’s grand slam sparks DP to sweep of Righetti

Kai Uyesaka hit a walk-off grand slam in the bottom of the eighth inning, lifting Dos Pueblos to an 8-4, win over Righetti in  the first game of a non-league softball doubleheader on Friday at DP.

Lani Evans hurled a two-hitter and drove in the only run in the nightcap for a 1-0 Charger win in the nightcap.

Dos Pueblos has now won six straight — five by shutout — and improves to 10-3.

In the third inning of the second game, Maddy Buie drew a walk, stole second, moved to third on a fielder’s choce then scored on Evans’ single. Evans had two hits as did Veronika Gulvin. On the mound, Evans struck out eight and walked three.

Gulvin pitched the opener and struck out 12 and walked one.

The Chargers led 3-2, but Righetti tied the score in the seventh. The Warriors took a 4-3 lead in the top of the eighth on a home run by Delani Wisz.

DP struck back in the bottom of the inning, with Evans starting things with a triple. She scored the tying run on a Jade Sinskul grounder to second. Siena Wagner and Sam Sander followed with hits, setting the table for Uyesaka.

With two outs Uyesaka hit the 1-0 pitch over the center field fence for her game-winning grand slam.
