Sener named Bishop’s girls volleyball coach

Bishop Diego has appointed John Sener has its girls volleyball coach, athletic director Dan Peeters announced on Wednesday.

Sener replaces Jason Donnelly, who is leaving Bishop Diego at the end of the school year to become the athletic director and girls volleyball coach at Laguna Blanca School. Sener has served as Donnelly’s assistant for the last four years.

A Bishop Diego alum, Sener has a wealth of volleyball coaching experience in the community. From 2005-2010, he served in multiple coaching positions at Dos Pueblos: girls varsity assistant, head girls frosh/soph and JV team coach, boys frosh/soph and JV team coach. He’s also coached with the Santa Barbara Volleyball Club since 2008, and is currently the club’s girls 15-1 coach.

“I am excited for John to lead our girls volleyball program,” Peeters said in a statement. “I have a tremendous amount of respect for his coaching acumen and the quality of his character. He is a great fit for our community.”
