San Marcos senior Sean Nakano-West shut out Ventura, 3-0, in a Channel League baseball game on Saturday. Nakano-West allowed only two hits, struck out four and walked one.
It was the first league win for the Royals while Ventura suffered its first loss.
Blake Katsev singled in Nolan Cope for the Royals’ first run in the third inning.
Nakano-West drove in the second run in fifth and Mason Metcalfe added a RBI single in the seventh.
San Marcos will face Santa Maria on Tuesday afternoon at San Marcos and then head back into Channel League play the following week.
