PBB: Dons beaten by No. 2-ranked Dana Hills, 7-1

Junior varsity pitcher Alex Chicote held a powerful Dana Hills team to two runs through four innings before tiring, and Santa Barbara High was held in check by Dolphins’ senior Marrick Crouse and suffered a 7-1 loss at the Anaheim Lions Tournament on Tuesday.

Chicote got his first varsity start against the No. 2-ranked team in CIF-SS Division 1 as the Dons were playing their fifth game in five days. He threw a perfect three innings before surrendering a two-out two-run single in the fourth inning.

The Dons made it 2-1 in the fifth when Joey Arroyo drew a walk, moved to second on a wild pitch and scored on a single by Christian Loza.

Dana Hills took advantage of a tiring Chicote in the bottom of the fifth. The Dolphins got two walks and a bunt single to load the bases. The Dons’ bullpen walked two more batters and gave up a two-out single to take a 7-1 lead.

Santa Barbara (9-6) completes tournament play on Wednesday. Varsity ace Kevin Gowdy is expected to get the start
