Moropoulos, Visser honored as Athletes of the Week

Santa Barbara High baseball player Trevor Moropoulos and SBCC swimming Rachelle Visser were honored Monday as the Athletes of the Week at the Santa Barbara Athletic Round Table press luncheon.

Moropoulos delivered in the clutch for the Dons, belting a two-run double in the bottom of the eighth inning to lift his team to a 4-3 Channel League victory over San Marcos on Friday. The next day, he drove in the winning run with a fifth-inning double in a 4-3 decision over L.A. City Section power Chatsworth in the Chatsworth Tournament.

Visser won three individual events and anchored the winning 400 medley relay team, leading the SBCC women’s swimming team to the Western State Conference championship in only its second year as a program.

Visser set conference and school records in winning the 200 individual medley, 400 IM and 200 butterfly. She was named the WSC Swimmer of the Year.
