Freshman Preston Gomersall made five birdies in a round of even par, and Santa Barbara High eked out an eight-stroke victory over Ventura, 378-386, in a Channel League boys golf match on Thursday at Buenaventura Golf Course.
The Dons imprvoe to 5-2 in league with one match remaining against Buena on Thursday at Montecito Country Club.
Santa Barbara showed good balance in Tuesday’s win as three other players scored in the 70s. Brandon Crane fired a 73, Torin Bjorklund a 74 and Fabio Rodriguez carded a 75. Eli Lux rounded out the scoring with an 84.
