BVB: Tough serving sparks Cate over Bishop

Cate got Bishop Diego out of system with strong serving, and the Rams rolled to a 25-11, 25-21, 25-21 sweep in a Tri-Valley League boys volleyball match on Thursday.

Chase McCaw served up seven aces to lead the Rams (5-3 in league, 5-4 overall).

“Our serves caught Bishop off guard,” Cate coach Greg Novak said.”We were able to capitalize on their mishandled serve receive.”

Oliver Welch led the Cate attack with 21 kills and Morgan Pierce added 11 kills. The Rams avenged a five-set loss against the Cardinals in their first meeting at Bishop.

John Harris led Bishop Diego (6-4, 5-2) with eight kills and seven digs, while Luca Jordano had seven kills and six digs.

We were beat in every facet of the game tonight. Credit goes to Cate as they played really well,” said Cardinals head coach Jason Donnelly.
