LAX: Dons upend Chargers for first win

Santa Barbara High’s girls lacrosse team captured its first win of the season on Thursday by defeating Dos Pueblos 7-5.

Ariel Bustillos was a stalwart on defense for the Dons, and got great help from defenders Sixtine Bellini, McKenzie Heras, and Sabrina Loza according to coach Jeannette Biava. Bustillos forced five turnovers and earned two draw controls.

Maria DeAngelis and Bella Gniadek shared the team lead in scoring with two goals each. Gniadek is part of the Dons midfield that has developed strong chemistry. Sophie DiFilippo and Kate Mascari join Gniadek playing both ends.

“They lead by example on both attack and defense,” Biava said.

Dos Pueblos scored first on Thursday but Santa Barbara rallied for the win.
