BSoc: Laguna Blanca, Dunn to play CIF final at San Marcos

The CIF Division 7 boys soccer championship between area schools Laguna Blanca and Dunn will be played Friday at San Marcos High’s Warkentin Stadium at 7 p.m., Laguna Blanca announced Wednesday.

The match will be the third meeting of the season between the co-champions of the Condor League. The previous two ended in 1-1 and 3-3 draws.

Laguna Blanca (14-1-3)  is coming off a come-from-behind 2-1 overtime win at second-seeded West Shores in the semifinals at Salton City. The Owls also beat third-seeded Webb, 4-2. They will be playing in their first CIF soccer final.

Dunn (12-2-3), which beat University Prep of Victorville, 3-0, in a semifinal game in Los Olivos, won the CIF Division 6 title in 2006. That team included King Gyan, Michael Tetteh and Waid Ibrahim from the Right to Dream Academy in Ghana.

Friday’s title match will feature teammates from the Santa Barbara Soccer Club’s U.S. Youth Soccer national championship team: Mikey Hawker, Damien Nunez and Ryan Bickett of Laguna Blanca and Sahid Conteh of Dunn.
