WTen: SBCC sweeps away Bakersfield

SBCC swept all six singles matches, dropping just seven games on Thursday at Pershing Park, and took the three doubles sets by 8-0 scores in a 9-0 women’s tennis win over Bakersfield.

The Vaqueros improved to 3-2 overall with their third straight home victory. They’re 3-1 in WSC play, just a game behind unbeaten Glendale (4-0).

Tess Kolkman played No. 1 singles for the first time this year and swept Jessica Arreola 6-0, 6-0. Kolkman also won her doubles set 8-0 with partner, Zionne Lee. Edda von Hodenberg also had a perfect day at No. 5 singles (6-0, 6-0) and No. 2 doubles with Gabriela McDaniel.

The Vaqueros play five of their next six on the road, starting Tuesday, March 3 at Glendale in a 2 p.m. WSC contest.
