Phoebe Madsen gets a big hug after her throw-in brushed past Hannah White and into the goal for Laguna Blanca’s one goal on Thursday.

Laguna Blanca’s girls soccer team was unable to prevail on Thursday in a CIF Division 7 playoff contest, falling to visiting Los Amigos 5-1.

Los Amigos got going early with a goal in the 6th minute and was able to convert once again in the 20th.

Phoebe Madsen created multiple scoring opportunities with long throw-ins, none of which were able to be capitalized on in the first half. Los Amigos scored again late in the second half and never looked back.

Hannah White was the only scorer for the Owls on the day, as her goal came of a successful throw in by Madsen but it was too little too late.

“Despite the scoreline, I was very proud of our defense, led by Bryn Jewett and Maddie Bonser, both seniors who fought for every ball and gave their best,” said coach Kevin Shertzer.
