BBK: Dons beat Chargers for sixth straight

Santa Barbara carried a 26-point lead into the fourth quarter of Wednesday’s Channel League game with Dos Pueblos before settling for a 77-64 result.

The Chargers owned the fourth, outscoring Santa Barbara 26-13. The Dons were able to take the foot off the gas having built a 64-38 lead after three quarters.

Bolden Brace’s 21 points on 7-of-12 shooting led the Dons. Chris Wagonhurst added 16 and Ben Clay 13 for Santa Barbara. Santa Barbara’s ball movement led to 19 assists on 27 field goals. Wagonhurst had a team-high five assists while Brace recorded four. Clay’s eight rebounds led SB.

It was Santa Barbara’s senior night. All seven of the Dons seniors saw the court: Chris Givens, Andrew Fay, Max Henderson, Desmond Pelletier, Matt Gilligan, Chris Wagonhurst and Duncan King.

The Dons have won six straight games since a loss at San Marcos on January 14. They have beaten those teams, including a rematch with the Royals, by an average of 16.2 points. They improve to 5-1 in league play and face Ventura (4-1) on Thursday.

San Marcos (3-3) lost to Buena 52-46.

Dos Pueblos (0-6) travels to Buena (2-3) on Thursday.
