Malibu separated itself from Cate in the second quarter and never looked back in a 14-7 Tri-Valley League match.
A four-goal run by the Sharks in the second period was especially damaging, extending a 4-2 lead to 8-2.
Olivia Cannell led the Rams in scoring with three goals. Anna Satterfield and Ally Satterfield added two each. Goalie Bella Shealy blocked a five-meter penalty shot.
“While it was frustrating to come away with a loss, the girls were already excited to play again at home in several weeks,” said Cate head coach Nathan Alldredge.
Cate’s (2-4, 1-2) next match is at Nordhoff on Wednesday.
