All-CIF player Jordyn Lilly is a big reason Bishop Diego is No. 1 in the CiF Division 5A girls basketball poll.
Bishop Diego received a No. 1 ranking and defending CIF champion Santa Barbara was ranked fourth in its division in the first CIF girls basketball polls.
The Cardinals (5-1) are on top in the Division 5A poll. Their only loss this season came against Cabrillo, the 13th-ranked team in Division 3A.
Santa Barbara, which is off to a 6-0 start, is fourth in Division 2AA. The Dons were elevated from Division 3A, which they won last season. It was their first CIF-Southern Section division title in program history.
Santa Barbara’s Channel League rivals Buena and Ventura are ranked in other divisons. Buena is No. 1 in the 2A and Ventura is 14th in Division 1AA.
