WVB: Biola’s firepower wears down Westmont

Westmont had fifth-ranked Biola on the brink of defeat, but the Eagles charged back from a 2-1 deficit in sets and pulled out a victory in five sets. The scores were 25-13, 16-25, 23-25, 25-20, 15-8.

Westmont’s defense frustrated Biola. The Warriors tallied 59 digs.

But Biola’s firepower finally wore down the Warriors in the last two sets.

The Warriors were led by Sarah McGough who had a team high of 11 kills, while Ciena Colburn, Taylor Beckman and Sydney Striff tallied nine kills apiece. Libero Kami Troesh weathered the storm in the back row, tallying 16 digs, while outside hitter Madison Serrano contributed nine.

The Warriors fall to 11-10 overall and 4-4 in GSAC play. They take on No. 18 Vanguard University in Murchison Gymnasium this Saturday Oct. 11 at 7 p.m.
