Cate’s girls tennis team defeated Laguna Blanca 17-1 on Saturday in a non-league matchup. It was the Rams’ final regular-season match before the Tri-Valley League individual tournament and CIF playoffs.

No. 1 singles player Julia Gan led the charge with three wins 6-1, 6-0, 6-1. McKenna Madden’s sweep came 7-5, 6-3, 6-0. Gan and Madden will join together as a Cate doubles team at the TVL tournament.

Today’s doubles teams took all nine sets in dominating fashion with a combined games score of 54-13. Summer Christensen won three doubles sets with two different partners. With Eva Herman it was 6-2, 6-0. Then with Madeleine Nelson 6-1.

“It was incredible to finish the regular season on such a high note. Everybody played, everybody won, and we got to share it with our parents, who’ve flown in from all over the country,” reported Rams head coach Trevor Thorpe.

Laguna Blanca’s Grace McNeil won a singles set for the Owls’ point.

Cate finishes its regular season with a record of 8-5, 4-4 TVL.
