CIF Football Polls: Cardinals remain on cusp of top 10

Bishop Diego’s domination of Oak Park last Friday wasn’t enough to crack the top-10 in the first regular season CIF-SS Northern Division football poll.

The Cardinals remain among others after their 56-0 romp at their former Tri-Valley League opponent. They expect a tougher game on Friday when they host San Diego Section  small schools perennial power Santa Fe Christian of Solana Beach.

Santa Fe Christian lost its opener at National City Sweetwater, 19-0.

Lompoc is top-ranked in this week’s Northern Division poll after holding off  Arroyo Grande, 20-13.

No. 9 St. Joseph, which beat Santa Fe, 42-20 last week, plays at Santa Barbara on Friday.

Buena and Ventura of the Channel League are ranked 5th and 7th, respectively, in the Western Division after season-opening wins.
