Silvernail, the two-time defending Santa Barbara City champion, topped Dan Sullivan of Pasadena 5-and-4 in the final round with six skins on the first 14 holes to Sullivan’s one. Silvernail won the first and seventh holes with birdies and only bogeyed the par-five fifth, which Sullivan picked up with a birdie of his own.

The Tournament began with a field of 32. Silvernail defeated Tim Hogarth, a five-time SCGA Mid-Amateur champion, in the semifinals. As the 13th seed, Silvernail knocked out the top seed (Hogarth) and the No. 4 seed (Sean Crocker).

The SCGA Match-Play Tournament has seen a lot of recent success for Santa Barbara golfers. Niall Platt, a former local prep player for Laguna Blanca who then went to Notre Dame to play, was tournament champion in 2012 and 2013.
