Foresters drop first game in Wichita, do-or-die from here

The Santa Barbara Foresters fell 9-7 to the Hays Larks on Tuesday night in Wichita, Kansas after opening the NBC World Series with two wins.

Santa Barbara plays again on Thursday in the double-elimination national tournament. The Larks are one of only two remaining undefeated teams, with the NJCAA National Team, and the two are matched up against each other tonight.

Santa Barbara was on its way to beating the Larks, taking a 5-0 lead with three runs in the top half of the fifth. Jaylin Davis delivered a two-run homer in the second inning. The Larks rallied with a five-run fifth inning, but the Foresters took another lead with a two-run sixth.

The Foresters defeated the Sedalia Bombers 5-3 in their first game in Wichita, followed up by an 11-2 victory over the St. Joseph Mustangs.

The Foresters are four-time NBC champions with the last title coming in 2012.
