There’s a four-way tie for first place in Santa Barbara’s World Cup Bracket Contest after Group Play.

Co-sponsored by Presidio Sports and Santa Barbara Brewing Company, the game challenged Santa Barbara locals to correctly predict the winners and losers in the World Cup.

Santa Barbara has an educated soccer community and it has shown in the contest results so far. The top four – each with 23 points out of a possible 32 – are sitting in the 98.9 percentile for all ESPN contestants.  Of the top four, Nosotros and gravedigger214 have Brazil becoming champions, while mattatasu has Argentina and araprub has Uruguay.

Find the complete standings below.

Of the 64 that filled out World Cup brackets in the Santa Barbara group, 78 percent chose either Argentina, Brazil or Germany to win it all. Only seven picked top-ranked Spain to win an exceptionally rare back-to-back world championship.

One patriotic bracket went with the United States to escape the Group of Death and advance all the way to a first World Cup title. The other outlier took Uruguay to become champion.

The winner of the contest will receive a pair of tickets to see Jurassic 5 at the Santa Barbara County Bowl. Additional prizes include a $100 gift card, a World Cup jersey and a gift package from Spa del Mar at the Fess Parker Resort.

The Santa Barbara Brewing Company is open for all World Cup games.
