Foresters erupt in fifth inning, romp past So Cal Catch, 14-3

The Foresters exploded for eight runs in the fifth inning and rolled to a 14-3 win over the Southern California Catch in a California Collegiate League game on Saturday at Caesar Uyesaka Stadium.

Santa Barbara was trailing 3-1 when it erupted and took a 9-3 lead. Cole Atwood and Granger Studdard started off the inning with singles. A.J Kennedy doubled in both runners to tie the score. Reggie Southall followed with an RBI single and Atwood and Grant Davis continued the offensive rampage with RBI singles.

Jeremy Montalbano continued the onslaught in the sixth with a soaring home run over the center field fence. The Foresters scored two more runs on RBI hits by Bret Boswell and Jake Vickerson, putting the ‘Sters ahead 12-3.

The Foresters scored two more runs in the bottom of the eighth. Montalbano continued his hot game, hitting a single. Boswell followed suit with a deep hit of his own to center field.

Boswell tripled to drive in Montalbano and came home on a throwing error on the shortstop.

The Foresters improve to 11-2 overall and 9-2 in the CCL.
