Carpinteria’s Peter Ramos and Gabe Zapien-Ybarra finished second and third, respectively, in the discus and qualified for the CIF Prelims at the Tri-Valley League track and field finals on Thursday.
Brooke Hymer qualified in the girls pole vault with a third-place finish and Joel Montes earned a berth in the boys 100.
Ramos threw 135-7 and Zapien-Ybarra went 129-8 in the discus. Ramos also took fourth in the shot put with a throw of 42-11.5.
Oaks Christian won both the boys and girls meet. The Oaks Christian girls won the league title, while the boys shared the title with Oak Park.
