Caitlin Racich wins second national title at Pepperdine

 

Dos Pueblos alum Caitlin Racich won her second national championship as a member of the Pepperdine women’s sand volleyball team.

Pepperdine defeated Florida State 3-2 to claim its second title in three years at the AVCA Sand Volleyball Championships in Gulf Shores, Ala., over the weekend.

Racich and partner Delaney Knudsen won two of three matches during the tournament, including a victory over top-ranked USC in the team semifinals. Knudsen is the daughter of Santa Barbara High alum Mark Knudsen.

Caitlin Racich was a member of Pepperdine’s 2012 national championship squad.

Her younger sister, Taylor, was on this year’s championship team. She and Caitlin were partners earlier in the season.

Dos Pueblos was well represented at the national championships. Katie Spieler played for Hawaii and Marina Boulanger competed for Florida International. Santa Barbara alum Eve Ettinger played for USC.

Spieler, a sophomore, was named to the AVCA Collegiate Sand Volleyball All-American team.
