CIF Polls: Dons get votes in baseball

Santa Barbara High’s baseball team received votes in this week’s CIF Division 2 poll.

The Dons are 11-4 and 3-1 in Channel League going into a big two-game series against defending league champion Dos Pueblos this week. The Chargers won the first meeting a couple weeks ago, rallying from a 7-0 deficit to win 9-7.

In Division 10 baseball, Condor League rivals Dunn and Cate are ranked fourth and 10th, respectively.

Dos Pueblos remains No. 1 in the Division 4 softball rankings. The Chargers play four games this week. They have a two games against Santa Barbara in Channel League, take on Rio Mesa in the final of the Pac-View Tournament and open the Thousand Oaks Tournament on Saturday against a strong Lakewood team.

In volleyball, San Marcos takes its Division 2 No. 1 ranking into a Channel League showdown with Dos Pueblos on Tuesday at the Thunderhut. DP won the first meeting, but the Royals were without All-CIF player Shane Hauschild.

Laguna Blanca is fourth in the Division 5 volleyball poll. The Owls face crosstown rival Cate on Wednesday.

In boys tennis, Santa Barbara’s win over Dos Pueblos last week vaulted it over the Chargers in the Division 1 poll. The Dons are sixth and DP is seventh.
