Life of the Party, the Alcohol and Drugs Program’s student organization that promotes safe partying and drinking, and Rec Sports, UCSB’s fitness-promoting program, are combining their strengths for a healthy mix of knowledge and athleticism.

Teams of up to six players can sign up online HERE. Every participating team is guaranteed at least two games. Students not interested in competing are still welcome to watch games from the bleachers.

The tournament will take place at UCSB’s Robertson Gym this Saturday, February 22nd. Team Check-Ins will start at 5:30 PM and games begin at 6:00 PM. The event is free for all participants and includes dinner for competitors, prizes for most spirited and best costumed teams, and a photo booth, snacks, and raffles for spectators. Games will be played at all times with professional referees at each arena. This double-elimination tournament will consist of 32 teams competing for the grand prize, bragging rights, and the championship trophy.

Above all else, Rec Sports and Life of the Party hope to commemorate Alec Torchon through the tournament, perpetuating and honoring his legacy through the spirit of play. “Providing a fun, healthy alternative to the typical Saturday night I.V. party scene is something that Recreation is very proud to offer,” says Rod Tucknott, Director of UCSB Adventure Programs. “We look forward to this and many other events that will continue the tradition of Life of the Party’s alternative late-night activities.”
